Northern Academy to compete at the 2011 WGI World Championships
Press Release by Northern Academy
After the completion of another successful season, and making a World Finals in their first attempt, Northern Academy are set to build on these experiences and will return to the World Stage for the 2011 WGI Championships. This decision will also make them the first European Guard to compete at the World level for 2 consecutive seasons since 1999.
Speaking of the venture, NAPA Chairman, Paul Morgan says “There is no doubt that we have learned a great deal as a team from the WGI experience, and this is something that we will be building on to take Northern Academy forwards for the next 12 months and beyond. We have learned a lot about how much we still have to learn, and this has given us the impetus and determination to succeed more than ever.
We will stay true to the NAPA values that we hold so dear and stay original to ourselves and those that enjoy being a part of something different. This is important to me, to the Board of Trustees and to the members. I am extremely thrilled that the decision to return to the World Championships was unanimous with all Board Members and Staff and so our journey has already begun.
We have a strong, talented and accomplished group of individuals driving our designs and instructional programs, lead by an extremely dedicated Guard Director in Nicola Garlick, all of whom bring something new and exciting to the fore. I hope people enjoy the 2011 program as it unfolds, and very much look forward to providing the necessary support and input to this effort, as well as to all other Northern Academy Colourguards that will be competing on the WGUK circuit in the 2011 season”
