WGUK eases the passage for new judges
WGUK today announced that a set of new judge training materials have been locally developed during the summer of 2012, making the transition to becoming an accredited WGUK judge much easier. In the past new judges start out by trying to understand and apply the full judging system. This often can be daunting and sometimes discouraging. The new system will ease a new judge in, starting out by working on recognition skills.
New judge training videos for each class have been developed together with simple observational questions relevant to each caption. Once a judge has spent the time working through these training videos, they will be ready to learn basic tape technique and then start understanding the actual judging system. This will enable them to attend the training sessions with some confidence and experience under their belts. This gentler passage will make it easier for a new judge to gain confidence in their recognition skills and judging ability.
Any person who is interested in becoming a judge in the future should get in contact with Judges Co-ordinator, Mark Nicholson
(firstname.lastname@example.org). Also any instructor
who would like to learn more about the judging system is encouraged to work through this process.
