:: IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ ::
In advance of next weekends British Championships event at the University of Worcester Arena there are a few “rules” supplied by the venue that we need to ensure all participants and spectators are aware of. Most of these came into force for the 2024 Championships and we are posting this reminder now to help us have a smooth running event next Saturday!
########################
1. NO BALLOONS or INFLATABLES of any kind (regardless of whether inflated by helium or not).
2. NO CONFETTI, GLITTER, PARTY POPPERS, WATER PISTOLS, BUBBLES OR SIMILAR. This is not only for retreat but also as part of guard’s performances! We are once again asking for clarification of this, in relation to the use of confetti or something similar during performances (i.e. hidden in flags) as our rules already state that if using confetti as part of your performance then this must remain on your flooring and be totally cleared once you have finished your show – but right now they advised a total ban on these!
3. PERFORMERS will NOT be able to take any DRINK on to the arena for the RETREAT Ceremonies.
4. ALCOHOL is not allowed into the ARENA or UNIT BASE AREAS – ALCOHOL can be purchased and consumed within the Bar Area ONLY for those 18 years of age and above.
5. NO FOOD OR DRINK is allowed to be bought into the venue. Should you wish to bring an item of food or drink with you due to medical or religious requirements, please contact the venue via arenaevents@worc.ac.uk. We have been advised the Arena café will be open from 9am. Competing performers are permitted to bring their pre-prepared food into the venue but to remain within the performers “backstage” area.
6. There is a BAG POLICY. Spectators will only be permitted to bring an A4 size bag or smaller into the arena. One bag is allowed per person. They class small bags as no larger than A4 size or standard handbags. Travel cases, laptop bags and large tote bags are NOT permitted inside the arena. Please note this does not affect guard equipment bags being brought in via the equipment entrance.
7. As part of the bag policy, hands-off BAG SEARCHES will be conducted by Arena Staff upon entry via the Spectator Entrance to the venue and they advise this is a condition of entry to protect your safety and that of other visitors.
8. Prohibited items will be confiscated by the venue and returned to you after the event, which may delay your access into and out of the Arena. The venue’s recommendation is: if in doubt, leave it at home.
