Since the announcement was made last Sunday to sadly cancel our 41st British Winter Guard Championships, officers of both the WGUK Board and MPAUK have been working through a number of logistical tasks following that decision which has included the cancellation of the University of Worcester Arena (UWA), associated suppliers plus starting the process of issuing ticket refunds.
All member organisations have been contacted in the last 24 hours with details of a number of decisions made by the WGUK Board and these include :-
a. WGUK to produce a 2020 YEARBOOK that will be available for PDF download (for free).
b. All performing members to be issued a 2020 Finalist Patch for their relevant class.
c. WGUK to produce a 2020 DVD (single camera angle only) using the last performance of each Guard recorded by UK Fan Network. This will be at a much-reduced purchase price from normal.
d. Long Service Awards – to be publicly announced via our website and social media pages with the 15 and 20 Year Awards being presented at one of the first two shows of the 2021 season.
There were also a number of other “administrative” task that were advised but we really appreciate how traumatic and emotional the past few days have been for us all within the activity, and especially our performing members, so we sincerely hope that the actions highlighted will help to bring some form of meaningful closure to our 2020 season.
We hope to announce in the next day or so some ideas that can happen next Saturday (the day of the 2020 Championships) in which we can try and involve as many people as possible (remotely so we keep social distancing from each other) – so watch this space.
