Winter Guard United Kingdom is pleased and excited to announce that a Membership Liaison Co-Ordinator has been appointed by the WGUK Board and that Sharon Smith has agreed to take on this important role.

Sharon comes to WGUK bringing Drum Corps experience from time spent with Mayflower, The Senators and The Spartans (USA). During her time with Mayflower colour guard, Sharon has performed, instructed, designed and judged on the WGUK circuit. Sharon has also been an active committee member and fundraiser. Professionally, Sharon is a qualified social worker and educator.

Sharon will be a point of contact for all WGUK organisations and her role is “To make it as easy as possible for winter guard groups to excel as an organisation and participate in the WGUK community”. The first task was to create a new Facebook group (WGUK – Building Our Community ) for all directors/staff/instructors of Guards, and this is now live at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/671234330415554 and has already bought people together to help each other during this difficult time for organisations like ours with COVID guidelines stopping much of what we do as colour guards taking place.
