Sunday 16th January 2022 saw the first WGUK live event since March 2020 and with 22 units in competition is was like we had never been away.
The WGUK Board had been discussing and planning the 2022 season for over 8 months and it was only really in the last few weeks (and days) that the green light was given to go ahead and run this coming winter with live shows.
We would like to thank everyone that was involved in anyway in this debut event of the winter season in Stoke On Trent for their support and understanding as we tried to make everyone be and feel as safe as possible. We know somethings were not as we are all used to but as we all worked together it made for a fun, exciting and extremely entertaining day.
To the performing units (both members and staff) – the standard was way above what was expected considering the issues and obstacles you have all had to handle over the past 21 months – so congratulations all.
We now look forward to the rest of the season but we cannot be complacent and will continually check and, if need be, amend/update any guidelines and instructions so we can all enjoy this season and get to our normal season end finale in Worcester on Saturday 2nd April.
All the performances from Stoke at are now available via our video portal UK Fan Network – www.ukfannetwork.org (subscribe from just £9.99 for 12 months access) and the recap sheets, with all the placing and scores, are available at https://recaps.competitionsuite.com/7323f08c-d60a-4a81-b574-75652780e4af.htm
We look forward to seeing you again over the next few weeks – the next two events being at Wivenhoe on Sunday 30th January and Warrington on Saturday 5th February – and we hope you all stay safe and healthy.
