Irish show now WGUK “sanctioned”

WGUK are pleased to confirm that on Sunday 16th February 2020 the contest being held in Ireland, whilst still remaining an IMBA run event, will now be a fully sanctioned WGUK contest.

A full panel of WGUK Judges will be allocated plus the scores will be eligible to be use in the 2020 WGUK season seeding process.

Mark Nicholson, Chairman of WGUK stated “We have been pleased to be able to send Judges over to Ireland for their annual event in the past, and we are truly excited to include this show into our scheduled season, as this makes perfect sense – especially as we have had Irish units competing fully within WGUK for a number of years. Plus also to strengthen both our strategic and operational relationship with IMBA.”

Chairman of the IMBA, Oisin Molloy added “We are delighted to have our Feb show sanctioned by WGUK. For many years now, we have had several WinterGuard and Drum Corps from the UK visiting our shows in both Winter & Summer and no doubt this development will stimulate further growth and partnership between our two organisations. Our doors are always open and we welcome any UK based performing units who would like to visit Ireland, to please get in touch for more info. We would also like to extend thanks to the Board of WGUK for their continued support of the IMBA activity. Partnering with WGUK & DCI’s SoundSport program has allowed us to grow our indoor events to become a great success story and we are now looking forward to continued growth on this circuit.”

More details will be issued about this event in due course if UK units would like to attend but we are pleased to have been able to work with our friends at the IMBA to increase the profile of this event.
